Felipe Carrillo Puerto International (MMTL) opened on 1 December 2023, twelve miles from town, with a 12,140-foot concrete runway — able to take any business jet category without weight restriction.

For the passenger the difference isn't comfort, it's door-to-door time: a two-hour flight from the Mexico City area stops turning into a five-hour day. That's the argument that carries most weight when the group lands on a Friday afternoon.

The executive terminal and its hours

MMTL has an executive aviation terminal with its own lounges and apron, separate from the commercial building, plus customs and immigration on site. Clearance runs 20 to 30 minutes on domestic flights and 35 to 50 on international ones.

One operational detail is worth knowing before you book: the airport is run by a military-owned group and executive handling works a daytime window, roughly 07:00 to 19:00 local. It is not a 24-hour field like Cancún or Toluca. An itinerary landing late in the day gets planned with margin, and if your flight falls outside that window we quote it through Cancún and arrange the ground leg.
