The commercial itinerary from the Caribbean to the Bajío almost always connects in Mexico City, and the connection typically costs three to four hours of airport. Add the transfer to your hotel and a Sunday return becomes a full day of travel.
Private, the leg is direct: two hours twenty from Cancún's private ramp to MMQT, then fifteen minutes to the east side of the city or about an hour to San Miguel de Allende.
The natural departure is the private ramp at Cancún International (MMUN), separate from the commercial terminals and with customs available 24 hours.
If you stayed in Tulum or toward Bacalar, Tulum airport (MMTL) saves you 90 to 120 minutes of driving, often at the same rate — with the caveat that its executive handling works a daytime window. From Cozumel (MMCZ) you can depart without taking the ferry to Playa del Carmen. We set the field by where your stay ends.
MMQT sits about 12 miles east of the city, in the municipalities of Colón and El Marqués, with executive handling and customs on field. Airport to downtown Querétaro is around 20 minutes.
From there, San Miguel de Allende is about an hour, Celaya 50 minutes and León a little under two. It's why the Bajío corridor uses MMQT as its gateway instead of driving from the Mexico City area.
