    Why Private

    What makes this route different.

    01
    Direct, no stop

Commercial itineraries usually connect in Mexico City. Private is 2h 30m point to point.

    02
    Depart when you decide

MMGL operates 24 hours. A pre-dawn departure gives you a full day at the beach.

    03
    Arrival at the private ramp

MMUN handles you at the FBO, separate from the commercial terminals. Transport waiting on the ramp.

    04
Straight into Tulum when it helps

We can land at MMTL instead of Cancún and save you 90 minutes of driving, often at the same price.

    Cost

What determines the cost of a Guadalajara → Cancún charter?

It's a long leg for a domestic flight, and that widens the gap between categories: the price difference between light and midsize shows up far more here than on a one-hour hop. Worth defining the luggage before choosing the aircraft.

    01
    Aircraft category

The single biggest driver. The right categories for this leg are light and midsize jets: the gap between them isn't only cabin size but speed, baggage volume and range. A light and a midsize jet on the same route can differ by 60% in price.

    02
    Distance and block time

The leg runs ≈ 1,710 km with a typical 2h 30m in the air. Charter is priced on occupied flight hours, and daily utilization minimums plus crew duty limits still apply even on a short hop.

    03
    One way vs round trip

A round trip that keeps the aircraft with you usually prices better per hour than two one-ways. A one-way Guadalajara → Cancún may mean the aircraft flies home empty, and that leg shows up in the rate.

    04
    Positioning (ferry)

The movement of the aircraft before pickup or after drop-off. If the right aircraft isn't based in Guadalajara, or is committed elsewhere after landing in Cancún, that repositioning enters the cost. It's exactly why empty legs exist: someone already paid for that leg.

    05
    Season and demand

Availability rules price. Through December through Easter week and the family summer the fleet commits weeks ahead and the rate stops being negotiable. Firm dates booked early widen your aircraft options.

    06
    Handling, FBO and fees

Landing, ramp, FBO handling, catering and crew overnight where applicable. Small next to the flight hour, but they vary by airport and are always itemized in the quote — nothing appears afterward.

The west to the Caribbean, skipping the centre

Guadalajara and Cancún have commercial service, but nonstop supply sits in a handful of times and much of the itinerary base routes through Mexico City. With a connection, a wait and a second boarding, a two-and-a-half hour flight easily becomes six.

Private, the leg is direct and the schedule is yours. For families travelling with children, that difference completely changes the first and last day of the holiday.

Cancún, Tulum or Cozumel: where to land

From MMUN it's 20 minutes to the Hotel Zone and Puerto Cancún, and about 45 to Playa del Carmen. But Tulum is roughly a 90-minute drive.

If you're headed to Tulum or Bacalar, landing at MMTL cuts that to 20 minutes and the fare is often identical. For Cozumel, MMCZ skips the ferry from Playa del Carmen. We pick the field around where you're staying, not out of habit.

High season and lead time that actually helps

From December through Easter week, aircraft availability toward Cancún sells out weeks ahead, and over Christmas, New Year and the Semana Santa long weekend prices respond directly to demand.

For those dates it's worth confirming three to four weeks out. Closer in, options narrow to whatever is free and the rate stops being negotiable. Booking the outbound and leaving the return open is a good middle ground when the schedule isn't firm.
